WELCOME TO COVVC!
COVVC North page! We welcome our VW brethren from up north and look
forward to more joint activities.
Do you know any northern Ohio VW
owners who might want to get involved with some events that are closer
to home? Contact Mike
Roecker for additional information and click
here for some
photos of the North group's recent activities.
Our next meeting is Thursday, May 11th at Valter's
at the Maennerchor
(976 S. High Street, Columbus).
Hopefully the weather will finally cooperate, and we can get all our
vintage VW's out of hibernation and drive them to the meeting for a
little mini club cruise-in! And don't forget your name tag! Our meeting begins at 7:30 PM, but plan
to come early and dine at Valter's with fellow COVVC members
On Saturday, May 27 at 9:30-10:00AM the COVVC
North Chapter will partner with the Cleveland-based VW LEAKOIL Club
for its annual kick-off Spring Cruise.
This is an approximate 20-mile cruise through the Cleveland
Metroparks ending at Slim and Chubby's restaurant (12492 Prospect
Road) in Strongsville for lunch. Gather at Cleveland
Metroparks Emerald Necklace Marina (GPS: 1500 Cleveland Metro
Park Drive, Lakewood, OH 44107 or 18900 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, OH
44107, coordinates 41.478151, -81.831374). For those
unfamiliar with the area, there's a big parking lot adjacent to the
boat docks where we meet up and swap stories. If you're in the
vicinity it's hard to miss, right at the bottom of the big hill in
the Cleveland Metroparks where it meets Detroit Road. We
average 20-25 VW's for this event and it is always fun.
Contact Bruce Amacker (440.846.3885) with any
questions--we hope to see you there!
The Jim Young Memorial Car Show in association
with the Central Ohio Crohn's & Colitis Foundation will be held
Sunday, May 28 from 10:00AM to 4:00 PM at the Grandview Yard
(840 W. Third Avenue). This show is open to the public and
free for all. Donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation
will be greatly appreciated. There will be a collection of
fine European, vintage, classic, muscle cars and classic motorbikes.
COVVC founding member Mike Young is on the board of directors and is
organizing this show in memory of his brother, Jim, who lost a
long-fought battle with Crohn's Disease several years ago. Jim
was a true, passionate VW enthusiast. It would be great to
have a nice collection of vintage VW's attending.
(614.843.0751) know before May 25th if you plan to attend with a
show car so that we can park all the COVVC cars together.
COVVC monthly meeting on Thursday, June 8 will once again be a
picnic at the Blendon Woods Metro Park.
We have reserved the Dogwood Shelter for our use, and it will be
available from 4:00 to 9:00PM. Come early and stay late!
We will plan to serve dinner around 7:00PM or so, once everyone has
arrived. Hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments and buns are
provided by board members, and we ask that folks with last names A-L
bring a side dish or salad to share; folks with last names M-Z bring
dessert (or if you have a special dish you want, just bring that!).
Please bring your own drinks, but remember--NO
ALCOHOL (prohibited in the Metro Parks).
Blendon Woods Metro Park is located off SR 161 at Little Turtle Way
on the NE side of Columbus. The Dogwood Shelter has a
dedicated parking lot and plenty of picnic tables, horseshoe pits
and restrooms, so dust off those VW's and come join your club for
some fun social time!
SAVE THE DATE! Volksfest 27 is on
Saturday, August 12 at Watkins-Memorial High School.

ABOUT THE COVVC
Our club was
originally founded by a group of twelve enthusiasts in the spring of 1991.
These like-minded individuals were looking for a way to pool their parts and
resources as a way to maintain their vintage VW cars. The COVVC was born!
Now in our 27th year as a premiere Vintage VW club based in Columbus,
Ohio, we welcome everyone interested in both air-cooled classic VW's as
well as newer
water-cooled VW products. Our membership spans many
states from California to the East Coast, totaling over 200 members
strong. We are the sponsors of the
Volksfest held each August in the Columbus area.
Come see what all the fun is about!
To have fun! To boldly go where Vintage VW's are welcome (i.e.
anywhere!) while spreading a spirit of camaraderie with fellow vintage
automobile enthusiasts. Nearly everyone has a VW story to tell,
and that thread binds all of us together.
QUICK VIEW OF
Literally hundreds of VW families fill our ranks. Our club is full

You do not have to own a VW to join--just a
passion for these way cool cars.
